Pool Opening Services

When warm weather returns, everyone’s ready to dive in — but opening your pool can be overwhelming. Every pool is unique, and no two seasons are exactly the same. That’s why we offer expert opening services designed to get your pool swim-ready faster and easier than ever.

What Sets Our Openings Apart? Most pool services complete a single visit, often leaving green or cloudy water behind for the homeowner to manage. At Royal Backyard Living, we go a step further — every pool opening includes a FREE follow up visit within a few days to make sure your pool is truly ready to enjoy. We believe we’re the only company in the Kansas City Metro offering this at no extra charge.

Standard Pool Opening — $399

For basic swimming pools with a single pump/filter system. Includes one follow-up visit.

Service Includes:

  • Removal and folding of winter cover
  • Start-up and equipment testing
  • Installation of ladders, handrails, and return fittings
  • Water chemistry testing and balancing
  • Vacuum to waste
  • Minor leak repairs at equipment pad
  • Brushing pool surfaces
  • Cleaning winter cover shadow from the deck
  • FREE follow-up visit (1–5 days later)

Note:

Chemicals for the initial visit include 1 gallon of liquid shock, 1 quart of Algaekill 60, and any necessary balancing chemicals. Follow up chemicals will be billed separately. If the service requires more than 2.5 hours, additional time will be billed at $125 per hour, pro-rated. If filter element cleaning is needed (cartridge or D.E.), it will be billed at $85.

Diamond Pool Opening — $499

For more complex systems with features like spas, catch basins, waterfalls, or automation.

Includes:

  • Everything in the Standard Opening
  • Specialized handling for complex configurations
  • Chemicals billed separately based on pool setup

Important:

We only open pools with safety covers or automatic covers. Need a safety cover? We’re happy to measure and install one for you this fall!

* All equipment will be checked for proper operation, but some features such as slides or fountains and heaters will not be left running unless specifically instructed to do so or if the outdoor temperature requires it to avoid freezing. ALL parts required to start the system or repair leaks are an additional charge. Chemicals for the first visit included in the Standard Opening are 1 gallon liquid shock, 1QT Algaekill 60 and balancing chemicals as needed. Most openings, even pool/spa combos, can be done within two hours.  However, the more features a system has, the more complicated it is and the longer it takes. Therefore, anything over 2½ hours will be charged at a $125 hourly rate pro-rated on the quarter hour.

** Chemicals for the follow up visit are an additional charge.  Cleaning filter elements in a cartridge or D.E. filter will include a $85 charge. Depending on the condition of the water upon opening and the condition of the filter media, two visits may not be enough to get the water clear and properly balanced.  If desired, additional visits can be requested at $85 per visit plus chemicals.
